2006 Off-season moves
Here is a list of the Oilers off-season casualties as of Sept 1, 2006. . .
Chris Pronger
Ty Conklin
Georges Laraque
Rem Murray
Michael Peca
Sergie Samsonov
Dan Smith
Jaroslav Spacek
Dick Tarnstrom
Nate DiCasmirro
Some of these guys we are happy to see go, others less so, and still others we are not happy to have lost. Having said that, this is the reality in todays NHL and every team will be facing changes every year.
Players that have not yet signed or moved. . .
Joffrey Lupul
Mathieu Roy
Radek Dvorak
Todd Harvey
Igor Ulanov
The thing that will seperate the men from the boys will be management, the way in which management adjusts to these changes and ensuring the highest quality product each year. Everyone knows who the BEST General Manager in hockey is right now, bar none, and that is Kevin Lowe. Kevin has continued to weave his magic in the current off-season while dealing with circumstances beyond his control (ie. Pronger). We (Oilers Fans) have alot to look forward to this upcoming season and I feel that we are going to be a force to be dealt with.
